Dear Mother,
I seated my sealf to inform you that I am well at preasant. I recive your letter a few days ago. I was glad to heare that you were all well. Richard is well. I want you to send me and Richard a heavy blanket or quilt a piece if you pleas, for it is mutch colder than in Tennessee. Tell Uncle Garnett howdy for me. Give my best respects to all the family. I mus bring my letter to a close. Thou effectionate son.
