Pineville Monday Morning
July 15, 1833

Dear Father,

I enclose you a letter, I received from Mr. Harlam, requesting a certificate from Mr. Grimki and yourself. Do show it to Mr. Grimki and do what you think proper and let me know as soon as possible, that I may answer his letter.

I am in Pineville on account of an inflammatory sore throat and fever, which I have had since Thursday. The doctor insisted upon my coming to his [?] when he could attend to me. I got my feet wet two mornings in going over to Slog Swamp with Frank, who has had very severe attack of fever.

I cannot write more now for I am weak from having been bled yesterday. I feel rather better today and hope in two or three days to be able to go out—do send my India rubber shoes and the key to my trunk.

Yours affectionately,
D. E. Ravenel
