Charlotte Walker Rowlett was born 15 October 1801 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Her parents were Mathew Rowlett (b. 2 April 1769, d. 28 June 1857) and Elizabeth Pettus (b. 24 September 1777, d. 2 November 1805). She married Samuel McKinney (b. 2 February 1797, d. 9 November 1857) and they had nine children: Mathew Jouett (b. 26 December 1822) born in Virginia, Charles McKinney (b. 12 August 1825) in Virginia, Susan McKinney (b. 9 September 1826) in Virginia, Joel McKinney (b. 25 March 1830) in Virginia, Elizabeth McKinney (b. 12 October 1832) in Kentucky, Daniel E. McKinney (b. 10 December 1834) in Kentucky, Caroline McKinney (b. 29 October 1839) in Kentucky, Sarah Ann McKinney (b. 15 April 1843) in Kentucky, and John B. McKinney (b. 1850) in Kentucky. Charlotte died in Evansville, Indiana 10 October 1873 where she moved after her husband died.
